When we're little (sometimes it's hard to believe that we can be little, but we're really all little at first))), we're told something about where we came from. At the same time, of course, in different cultures we are told something different. It's like with the famous trolley problem - sometimes people say that we should save an old grandmother, and sometimes - a little girl. I think now that we are all living in one world, where there is no periphery, where we can hide from change, it would be nice to have something in common, some ideas about ourselves and this crazy world, where we find ourselves. We can't choose where we appear and when we appear, but we do have an impact on some things. Those things that depend on us, we try to keep in sight. And at the same time we want to have more pleasure, which everyone is talking about and which no one has seen. I think there's one secret path to find that pleasure. It is very difficult to see it, it's like a Mayan legend, if I'm not mistaken - in front of everyone, and at the same time hidden from our attention. This path appears in our heads all by itself. Everything we see and feel gradually develops into a certain fictional model. The quality of our life depends directly on the quality of this model - we lay our path in this very model.
Close people cannot help us create a complete imaginary model of reality. Circumstances are now changing much faster than they did for our ancestors. Until recently, religion or school may have saved the situation, but, nowadays, it doesn't always work either. It turns out that if we want to keep the situation under control, it is best to do it personally. Sometimes they say something like "make yourself" about it - it doesn't matter that they often mean just money or fame. Each of us can choose, from what others say, something useful for ourselves. Unfortunately, I can't give exact recommendations for each of us, it's quite clear that each of us needs something different. In fact, all I can be useful in is just to remind you of these simple things, which is what I just did. I can only confirm that this is indeed very important for each of us. I think there are two or three other concepts, nowadays they are universal concepts that come from modern science. Actually, they kind of frame our personal picture of the world. One of them was born out of myths and astrology, the other - out of craftsmanship; gradually they were supplemented with brilliant conjectures and experiments - it was really a heroic path of several millennia. Today it continues, and it gives us inspiration and hope. It is indeed something that, apart from the love and trust of loved ones and friends, helps us wake up every day in the morning. I've already described the first concept briefly. Our inner world, the "place" where we "shelve" everything that happens to us - it is a field of research for cognitive science, which is at its peak. The other two concepts describe planets, stars, etc., and also explore the properties of all elements everywhere, both in us and in the stars.
Even in very ancient times, people sometimes looked up at the sky and tried to guess what is hiding behind this mysterious and so majestic picture. Already thousands of generations ago, our ancestors began to settle gods or the dead there. This was to help make reality more understandable and predictable. Since then, many religions have changed, arts, sciences and crafts have emerged. Today we have theories, which are confirmed by experiments, and even hopes to learn more soon. So far, we have the ΛCDM model. It is a bit boring in details, of course, but it provides a common understanding of the age and scale of the universe and that it is probably not the only one. This model is being refined literally "on the fly" and promises many more unexpected discoveries and refinements to improve our understanding. It's meant to tell us about something that actually exists, that is described by giant values, and is what we actually exist in. It is also very important that it is what unites us. In addition to the usual "space" countries, everyone who can - states and private companies - starts to engage in this science and technology. Even students from universities today already launch their own vehicles into space, often called "cubesats"... There is an old legend about the Tower of Babel, it's said that our ancestors then simply could not understand each other. I think they were not stupider than us, it's just that the time hadn't come yet. Maybe today we already have a chance, and now we can do it, all of us together. Strangely, good ideas come to us when we do something not quite routine. Fortunately, today it isn't war anymore. Today it's space technology, and it's already in our phones.
In addition, incredible breakthroughs are promised by physics, which is a system of ideas about the nature of the elementary components of all things and of ourselves. Water flows and wind blows - at some point people tried to use it, and they succeeded. The search for regularities of the physical world, apart from intellectual satisfaction, gives even simple everyday benefits. Today it exists as the Standard Model, just like ΛCDM. Unfortunately, we do not yet have a unified system of understanding of the nature of things, and the physical model is incompatible with ΛCDM. This can be explained mainly by the fact that gravity, as a natural phenomenon, is only determinant on a cosmological scale. In order to correctly calculate and predict the behavior of atoms and molecules, the determinants are electromagnetic and similar interactions of a different nature. All of this together must have some common regularities, and people are actively looking for them. I think we will be able to say about those who manage to achieve something in this direction, that they have made themselves. Physics promises to give us quantum computing and a habitat that is now even hard to imagine. E.g., food that grows without being a living thing. It's very close, closer than we think. Progress in some areas, especially such as machine learning, for example, far exceeds all expectations. By the way, you can try to translate this text with the help of an artificial neural network here: https://www.deepl.com/en/translator. Even more impressive, I think, can be the integration of technologies into our biology. Even if we don't take into account neural interfaces at all - a body in which it is possible to change parts, a virtual reality, smoothly passing into the molecular reality and vice versa... About all of this it is even hard to think in words, it seems a little primitive in words. In general, I think it will give us the opportunity to be more human than we can afford being today.
