old project website

This is the old website of Nux Project. We've decided not to update it, only clean up the links. We want to have it as it is, to see in what ways our vision of the project, the world around us and of ourselves has evolved since the time we created this. Overall, this vision is not much different from what it was initially. The three priorities remain the same:

  • free, open-source model for basic software platform
  • peer-to-peer collaborative environment
  • creativity as the way of life

Let me briefly expand on each of these points. The first two stem from technology, so everything's simple with those: open-source model is widely adopted by leading corporations, and it's not an exotic thing anymore. Cloud storage and collaboration make any necessary resources available to practically anybody. Gradual demonetization already becomes notable not only in the IT industry. Or, rather, it is technology-driven, much more precise monetization: we will pay a lot less for things - even for "classic" proprietary products and services. The development of peer-to-peer technologies like block-chain will allow very precise and efficient distribution of resources. To put it plainly, our profit from one consumer will be tiny, but, similarly to YouTube, more and more people make living that way. It works, and it will grow with the help of ever advancing technologies. In particular, artificial neural networks, that already now are making search and recommendation engines incredibly on point. The people behind those are interested in making it easy for anybody to make profit this way, if they can pull it off.

With regards to the way of life - this part, of course, is trickier to foresee. Indeed, social interactions in humans are almost impossible to predict, for now. Technologies, that underlie our interactions have got stuck back in the Industrial Era. Simple type of relations, with the 'goods-cash-goods' scheme are thousands of years old. Since then, there have come to be a lot more humans on the planet. Bosses and rulers soon won't be able to decide everything for us. It's time for us to take on the responsibility for ourselves and not seek for another "job", handed on a plate, but, instead, create it for ourselves. I think, that's not scary at all, and even much more pleasing - the life won't feel like a movie anymore, that somebody has filmed for you. If we'll really be able to live longer, we will have time to adapt. And then we will wonder, looking back, how could we live that way 😀
